Professional education for dog professionals
The city changes the behaviour. It changes the training too.
Learn to understand behaviour through the realities of city living — where space is limited, triggers are close, and the training plan has to work in the real world.
“What is the city adding to this behaviour?”
That question sits at the centre of the City Dogs Behaviour Academy.
Six core topics
Behaviour education through the City Dogs lens.
The Academy focuses on behaviours dog professionals see every day, with added attention to what happens when dogs live in dense, busy environments where distance, choice and recovery time may be limited.
01
Resource Guarding
Explore guarding through emotion, space, control, stress and environmental pressure.
Why might urban dogs have a higher propensity for resource guarding?
02
Stranger Danger
Understand fearful and defensive responses when people are difficult to avoid.
What happens when a dog who needs space lives somewhere strangers are unavoidable?
03
Condo Reactivity
Elevators, hallways, lobbies, blind corners and repeated trigger exposure change the picture.
How do we train when avoidance is not always possible?
04
Condo Barking
Look beyond “stop the barking” to shared walls, hallways, windows, deliveries and environmental activity.
What is the city adding to the barking?
05
Leash Reactivity
Apply behaviour principles when narrow sidewalks, traffic and high dog density limit your options.
What do we do when “just create more distance” is not always possible?
06
Rescues in the City
Help newly adopted dogs adjust to unfamiliar routines, close encounters, noise and the pressures of urban living.
How do we create safety, choice and confidence when the city itself can feel overwhelming?

Certificate prerequisite: The full City Dogs Behaviour Certificate is for dog professionals who already hold a recognized professional dog-training certification. One-off Behaviour Academy modules do not require the Certificate prerequisite.
Continuing education: The Academy is being structured with CEU submission in mind. Learning-hour totals are shown for transparency; specific CEU awards will be advertised only after approval by the relevant credentialing organizations.
Starting October 2026
Two topics each month.
Small Group Learning follows the monthly topic calendar. Live Q&A / group case-study sessions are planned for weekday mornings. Private sessions are also offered during designated weekday Academy hours.
| Month | Topic 1 | Topic 2 |
|---|---|---|
| October 2026 | Resource Guarding | Condo Reactivity |
| November 2026 | Stranger Danger | Leash Reactivity |
| December 2026 | Condo Barking | Rescues in the City |
| January 2027 | Condo Reactivity | Stranger Danger |
| February 2027 | Leash Reactivity | Rescues in the City |
Small groups really are small. Each live topic is capped at four people so there is room for meaningful questions and case discussion rather than another large webinar.
How it works
Built for working dog professionals.
Core teaching is recorded so you can learn around your client schedule. Live sessions focus on questions, discussion and application rather than repeating the webinar content.
Recorded learning
Each topic includes two recorded webinars, approximately three hours in total.
Weekday Academy hours
Live Q&A sessions and private 1:1 appointments are designed to run primarily on weekday mornings.
Real-world application
The goal is not simply to know more theory. It is to get better at seeing what is driving behaviour and building plans that work in the environment the dog actually lives in.
Frequently asked Questions
Good to know.
Do I have to complete the full Certificate?
No. You can take a single Small Group or Individual Behaviour Academy topic. The Certificate is the complete six-topic pathway.
Do I need to be a certified trainer to take a one-off topic?
No. The certification prerequisite applies to the full City Dogs Behaviour Certificate pathway, not to individual Behaviour Academy modules.
What is the difference between Small Group and Individual?
Small Group is focused on learning and discussion. Individual Learning adds required applied case work, written feedback, assessment and one private 1-hour session with Andrea.
How much 1:1 support is included in the Certificate?
Six private 1-hour sessions total. Those hours are flexible and can be used where you need the most support across the six topics.
Is the City Dogs Behaviour Certificate a professional behaviour-consultant certification?
No. It is an advanced professional education certificate offered by City Dogs Behaviour Academy. It is designed to deepen an existing trainer's behaviour knowledge; it does not replace independent professional credentials such as CDBC.
Are CEUs included?
The program is being designed for CEU submission. CEU availability and exact awards will be listed once approval has been received from the relevant credentialing organizations.
